Gil Jazz

GIL Jazz is a Milwaukee jazz ensemble led by trumpeter and vocalist Joel Lehman. Formed in 2019 through friendships made at Milwaukee’s Transfer Pizzeria Café, the group celebrates the genius of jazz music, the creativity of improvisation, and a shared love of connecting with audiences.

Featuring Lehman on trumpet and vocals, Sam Steffke on keys, Dwayne Williams on bass, and Steve Peplin, GIL Jazz brings together expressive musicianship and a collaborative spirit. Their performances reflect the group’s guiding ideas—Genius, Improvisation, and Love—with a focus on musical conversation and connection with listeners.
