Your Tool Box for Staying Healthy and Managing Stress Throughout the Holiday Season

The holidays are the perfect excuse to slip into overwhelm. Indulging in food and drink, a hectic schedule, family and friend obligations…and the shopping!

It can turn the most magical time of the year into the most stressful time of the year.

But not this year.

This year you have a secret weapon – the Let It Be Holiday Toolbox.

These are simple, effective tools to keep you from overwhelm and help you to focus on having a joy-FULL season.

INTENTION: Create intention and follow through. Creating your intention (aka finding your “why”) at the very beginning can help you get through this feeling and bring on the good habits you are attempting to set. Such as, I will not rush so that I can be present to what matters most.

FASTING: Intermittent fasting and watching portion sizes are your best friend! Going 12-14 hours without eating can help keep your metabolism going while you (responsibly) indulge this holiday season. Have a favorite dish or dessert that’s not in your typical weekly meal plan? That’s okay! Savor each bite and watch your portion sizes to keep your calorie count from going sky high.

ACTIVATE: Activated Charcoal is great to keep on hand especially when you know aren’t sure of the quality of food or you overindulge in your favorite adult beverage of choice. Check with your doctor to make sure you can take it to be safe and make sure allow approximately 2 hours before and after you take it so that it doesn’t interfere with your absorption of nutrients or any prescription drugs.

JUMP-START: Warm water with lemon or apple cider vinegar is a great way to jump-start your morning! This tiny addition to your day will help you flush out toxins in your system and balance that acidity in your stomach. 

MOVE: Stay active and move during the holiday season. You may not be able to do your normal fitness routine or you may be out of town and away from your local gym. Find other ways to move such as going for a walk, nearby playground, dancing or whatever else keeps you movin’ in the spirit of the holidays! The point is to have fun!

These tools will help set yourself up NOT to fail.
